Veteran hooker Scarra Ntubeni is set for a emotional final home game for the DHL Stormers this
Saturday as the DHL Stormers are back home for their last two home games at the DHL Stadium, but
Saturday’s clash against Connacht for one of the club’s longest-serving players. Legendary hooker Scarra Ntubeni has confirmed that this, will be his final home appearance in the famous DHL Stormers jersey.
The 35-year-old Siyabonga “Scarra” Ntubeni, a true servant of Western Province and Stormers rugby,is set to bring the
curtain down on an incredible chapter at DHL Stadium after more than 15 years of dedicated service.
Speaking during the latest Stormers pitch side interview , Ntubeni reflected on the moment
with quiet acceptance and gratitude:“It is time for me to ‘take a bow’ and it would be nice to play my last game here at this Cape Town stadium. “I knew this day was going to come. The last few months have come
quicker than a thought.”He added that he is content with the decision and looking forward to one final big
performance in front of the Cape Town faithful.
Head coach John Dobson and the squad regard the amiable front-rower as “the heart and
soul” of the team.Ntubeni has become a fan favourite and a pillar of the forward pack, known for his accurate
lineout throwing, tireless work rate and leadership around the park.
He has racked up well over 100 caps for the franchise, reaching his emotional 100th
appearance a few seasons ago with his young son watching proudly from the stands.

Born on 18 February 1991, Ntubeni attended King Edward VII School and has been a model
of consistency and loyalty. He contributed significantly to Western Province’s Currie Cup
triumphs in 2012, 2014 and 2017. He earned a solitary Springbok cap in 2019 against
Argentina and has been a regular in the Stormers setup across Super Rugby, the United
Rugby Championship and European competitions.
Despite battling injuries early in his career, he established himself as one of the most
reliable hookers in South African rugby. Fans will remember his gritty performances in
derbies, crucial lineout steals and the calm leadership he has shown in big moments.
