The Boland Kavaliers put in a powerful display to humiliate neighbors The DHL Stormers XXIII 41-3 in their Carling Currie Cup Western Cape Derby in Wellington on Sunday.

It was a tough afternoon for the visitors at Sanlam Boland Stadium as they were made to work hard on defence in the heat and suffered their first defeat of the season.

The home side got off to a fast start with two early tries, which both went unconverted to give them a 10-0 lead.

The DHL Stormers XXIII started to get a foothold in the game and Dominic Malgas got them on the scoreboard with a penalty.

They looked to have struck from long range as Gino Cupido raced away to score, but the try was disallowed due to a knock-on under a high ball.

The Sanlam Boland Kavaliers kicked a penalty of their own to take a 13-3 lead into the half-time break.

There were two more tries at the start of the second half, which saw the hosts secure the bonus point with 20 minutes left to play.

There were two further tries as left wing Jayden Bantom made it four tries, four conversions and a penalty on the day.
